Some Recent Photos of My Boys

Eating Dilemma

O.k. My boys are picky eaters. I have been catering to there wants because I am tired of fighting. But I am tired of eating chicken nuggets. Zach won't even eat pizza anymore. Today I started the tough mom approach. Which I probably should of been doing all along but I was tired and stressed. Well the boys didn't eat there breakfast until after 2 hours. There cereal was in the fridge. Yuk. Anyways, my heart was broken when I asked Zach to eat one measly little pea so he can eat more tator tots. I don't think that is an outsanding request. Well he tried to grab my tator tots from any angle. He was doing the sad cry which breaks my heart. I usually give in and he knows it. I do to now. He went to bed with only 5 tator tots and 3 crackers in his belly. I don't know what to do. I am going to try this out for a week or so. I don't want to waste food. If any of you guy have some helpful hints. PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Future Photographer

Michael Jr. took this picture all by himself of his little brother Zachary. I was extremely impressed. Desiree

Rotten Egg

Previos post information: my knives were on a chopping block. The block stayed on the refrigerator and tip when I closed the refrigerator door. I have learned my lesson. Now they are in a cabinet. If they fell it would land on the counter.

Anyways, I was experimenting yesterday and tried to make a bread pudding using leftover french toast, which failed because I didn't let the bread soak long enough. I was cracking the eggs as usual. I have seen blood out of my eggs but I have never seen green chunks before. The smell was horrific. It took a while before the smell went away. My only regret is I didn't take a picture, and there is no way to send the smell.

Love, Desiree

Count your many blessings!

Lately I have been in a wierd funk. I guess it is because I am so far away and I miss everyone. So anyways, I have been reading my scriptures and really trying to be grateful and positive. The devil gets to me sometimes. Well today I had a jumpstart on gratitude and that the Lord is there even when we feel alone. I was making a quiche today. I told the kids it was a pie. They were so excited to eat it. Eating it is another story. I went to get my knife so I could cut the cheese in half to shred. My children were playing in the kitchen. I got my knife then I got the cheese and closed the refrigerator door. As I closed the door all of my knives fell down. I was under them all. I screamed of course. Thankfully, I nor my children were hurt. I quickly told Michael Jr. that we needed to say a prayer to thank Heavenly Father that we were not hurt. Michael got on his knees and he said the prayer. This incident is my first in my gratitude journal. The Lord is always there. Love you, Desiree

Dragon Boat Races . . . Catchy, huh?

Well, we spent the day at the races on Cinco de Mayo. Actually, here that is Boy's Day. A national holiday that celebrates their male youths. Very nice. There were races between long boats propelled by oars in the hands of many people. We watched one and then wandered around a carnival playing random games. Mike, Jr and I both shot at an airgun stand. I did better thank goodness.

Zach and Mike, jr. rode in some airplanes and then we ate some local snacks. One was a pancake made with cabbage and some other stuff. Desiree ate that. Then we had yakitori, translated chicken meat. This was basically teriyaki chicken chunks on a stick. The big surprise here was that Mike, jr. loved it. He ate four skewers of it. He's normally picky, but the fact that it was cold and lightly drizzling may have helped him get over this.

We had fun and consider this to be our first big Japanese experience. Love you all, Mike, Sr. Out.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

In church today we were learning a lesson on grattitude. Or, I should say, we were hearing a lesson on grattitude. The subject turned to children and the most adorable story surfaced. Often these stories are out of context, embarassing, doctrinally unsound and prejudicial to good order and discipline. This one was simply unrelated to the topic at hand, otherwise very funny.
It seems a brother had been teaching his daughter about tithing. He gave his four-year-old ten pennies and then asked her to give one to the Lord as tithing. She agreed readily and walked away happily. He thought this went well until later when he walked past her bedroom and heard her laughing and saying, 'Ha ha, Jesus! I have nine and you only have one!' Kids today.
This was a real crowd pleaser.
Michael, Jr. made his own funny on the way home in reference to the fact that we haven't had cable since he was two and had forgotten what commercials were. He has since relearned. Today on the way home from church he asked if he could watch something. Then he said, 'Whenever we turn on the TV there is a commercial on, and when we don't turn it on there is a cartoon on. I am getting tired of this!'
Kids. You know I love 'em! -Mike, Sr.
